Celebrating 5 years of the Red Bull Studio LIVE at Oppikoppi20

As South Africa’s beloved festival of music and madness turns 20 this year, the Red Bull Studio LIVE stage at Oppikoppi celebrates its 5th year of joining the revelry.

The collaboration has seen many leading artists grace the ‘A-Frame stage on the other side of the hill’ such as the world-famous party-starter, Diplo, South African house music pioneer and legend, Oskido and bass-music pioneers, Sibot, PHfat and Haezer, to name just a handful of over a hundred artists to have played in the past.

The stage has also been a launchpad for South African up-and-coming talent such as Reason, Das Kapital, Jullian Gomes and Christian Tiger School who all played as they were establishing themselves in their career.

This year sees a plethora of talent return to the stage such as the aforementioned Sibot, Das Kapital and Christian Tiger School along with fresh line-up of trailblazing artists such as YFM bass-music siren, DJ Doowap, one of SA hip-hop’s fastest rising artists, Cassper Nyovest and SA house-music champions Crazy White Boy.

International artists on stage this year include prolific techno DJ-producer, Sian and Brazilian drum n bass legend, DJ Marky.

In a nod to the rise of electronic music from the underground to mainstream, 5FM’s DJ Fresh will be one of the headline acts, whose own work in helping build South African electronic music over the years has been invaluable to the scene.
