Ticket Office open for the 21th Verbier Festival
Tickets for the fifty concerts of 2014 can be booked at www.verbierfestival.com, as well as by phone, by fax and by mail. Thanks to “print@home” music-lovers who purchase their tickets online can print their tickets directly at home.
The 2014 season distinguishes itself from previous seasons by the number of concerts devoted to the vocal repertoire: four opera evenings and a host of concerts and vocal recitals celebrate the voice. The Verbier Festival welcomes the most famous artists of today, including tenors Ramón Vargas, Vittorio Grigolo and Rolando Villazón, as well as rising stars Pretty Yende and Atalla Ayan.
Piano recitals, chamber music evenings and symphonic concerts allow audiences to discover the richness of the classical repertoire, ranging from baroque music to contemporary creations or romantic master pieces. They will be interpreted by a roster of extraordinary musicians including Martha Argerich, Evgeny Kissin, Daniel Hope, Daniil
Trifonov, Grigory Sokolov, Leonidas Kavakos, Anne Sofie von Otter, Joshua Bell and Renaud Capuçon, to name but a few. Amongst the new faces this year, violonist Arabella Steinbacher, pianists Rudolf Buchbinder, Joaquín Achúcarro and Marc-André Hamelin as well as conductors Kristjan Järvi and Iván Fischer, are particularly notable.
Two new initiatives invite audiences to closely follow the developement of emerging artists. The Solti Verbier Opera Project brings together participants of Verbier Festival Academy with those of the Georg Solti Accademia for an intense opera workshop. The final round of the international piano competition known as the Vendome Prize, will also take place in Verbier, and the public is invited to hear the ten finalists compete for the top prizes.

A special mention goes to the concert of singer Youssou N’Dour, Senegal’s musical ambassador, who will have audiences dancing in the Salle des Combins to the irresistible rhythms of mbalax—a popular style of music combining traditional Senegalise sounds with latin-american, jazz and rock influences.
