HOT SA STREET WEAR

After having countless conversations with a friend of mine who lives in the States, about the state of style and the level of fashion acumen in the youth today. Growing up in Jozi I can’t help but feel the Euro-centric, vintage and postmodern touches in ordinary young South Africans’ new dress sense. The scene did definitely add some flavour, speaking of added flavour, one thing I could not have imagined 5 years ago was a beer with flavour, beer is a savory drink an acquired taste but what Flying Fish Premium Flavoured Beer did is turn a non-beer loving man like myself into a believer.

Back to the topic at hand, SA fashion is one of the most multicultural inspired fashion scenes of the world, Japan, Italy and France are top of mind when you think of leading fashion scenes globally. Our youth have found ways of translating our indigenous fabrics, mashing them up and fused with international styles to create what should be known as “Hot SA Street Wear” .

When Hot SA Street Wear comes to mind, 2BOP,SOL-SOL and Young and Lazy are just some of the few house hold names that come to mind with each brand telling a story of it’s own through their threads and look books they surely share a place not only in SA Street Wear but a global scale of street wear giants

“Streetwear is menswear’s rebellious little brother. Streetwear is the “word on the street” brought to life with texture, textiles and loud colours. It’s fashion’s interpretation of what’s happening in the music, art and social scenes.” – (Source Add Some Flavour)

If you hang out in Braam much, it’s not difficult to see that these 3 SA Streetwear brands have added flavour to the ever growing urban youth culture scene. In one way or another, they are adding flavour through their fresh gear, pretty much like Flying Fish Premium flavored Beer  did with beverage.
