Let’s play Ball Mzansi

The department of Arts & Culture has been a driving force for the beloved and undoubtably growing sporting code of basketball.

The Wembly Indoor Arena in Turfontein has been the home of this fast paced action, for local and traveling teams. Some of us are still getting to understand the layouts of strengths between teams and who the people are consistently rooting for.

For a number of weeks now the Minister of Arts & Culture Mr FikileMbalula Mbalula has been a stern supporter of this new and improved Basketball National League. Plenty of competition and fitness from the teams we’ve seen thus far.
The encouraging factor for this particular baby, is that it is entirely free for ball lovers to go and watch and support their favorite teams.
If one hasn’t entirely picked or found one that really tickles their fancy I would suggest, maybe start with the location of the teams, where they hail from and from there you can start picking your favorite players and so forth.
I’m pleased to say that local basketball has received nothing but love from the private sector as well.

I’m no sports fanatic of note, but I do enjoy anything with a competitive edge & these dudes on these courts are straight up competing.

It’s also cool to state that although basketball is originally an American sport, the brothers are just super amped to play, DSTV sports channel Supersport also televising the games , hopefully this invites an even bigger audience.

We sure hope the people of Mzansi, will yet through sports unify and pull together for the greater good of the youth, giving young people more alternatives, we don’t only have to drive them to soccer and rugby.
We need more sporting codes, to create a diverse generation of competitive and determined young people. There are many distractions in the streets out there, online but we at Soweto magazine slash Book of Swag are ready to play ball.
