#ShotLeftWithDineo Pt 2. Bundu Bashing In Bela Bela: The Limpopo Chronicles
Bela Bela Bundu Bashing!
Without an iota of doubt, this is one of the best places I have ever been. It is remote as f* ck, but good lord this place is motherless. We are all super impressed with the digs we are residing at. In the middle of nowhere, zebras roaming freely, springboks are a stone throw away and actually I could have thrown a stone or two but didn’t, allow I was in the bundus.
I’m in the company of our host Dineo and the twelebs, popular on social media, twitter specifically and they get paid to add their 2 cents in a hundred and forty characters. They are a very opinionated bunch and you get the feeling that in the race to who-knows-what-about-what and granted these people get paid to know and inform, they always make it their business to get it first.
Back to the house we are staying in, this is a house built for kings, a wise man once told me that in architecture lies an energy field and you just know how it is channelled and what it gives you from the way the house is constructed. Okay according to me, Limpopo is only popping during the Easter holidays for the Zion Christian Church annual conference I was wrong. I was just reintroduced to Bela Bela warm baths and the Zebula Game reserve. I have to mention these places specifically because I would ordinarily drive past these signs, but I stepped into a world of wonder, maybe not so much wonder but very much a new world.
The hot springs or pools rather at the Forever Resorts, what we darkies call the “Warm Baths” were welcomed by the travelling social media experts, the weather wasn’t the best, grey skies were in our mists and rain drops also dropped for split seconds, but the warm pools were nothing like we all expected, we could have stayed longer if it were up to us.we played a little inflatable beach ball but our fatigued city/suburban stamina’s were not going to have it, so we preceded to the Spa for much needed relaxation.
Now I want to give mam’Gloria at the resorts’ spa treatment centre a big shout out for restoring my faith in humanity. A full body massage like no other, I was taken to joys & heights my body and mind had never before experienced. We destroyed some picnic goodies and made our way to Zebula Waterberg Lodge, I almost lost my nuts, No! I actually did.
This pristine serenity coupled with a welcoming wilderness surrounding. This crib is that Houghton-old-money undated luxury mansion type of huge, only this time, you have no noisy neighbors or sounds of the upbeat city folk. This time you are one with nature with the pecks of urban convenience. Everything in this house screams “feng shui”.
Around our comfortable overnight getaway digs is a plethora of fun activities, Paintball shooting, Game drives, Golfing, Animal sanctuaries and best of all a piece of mind. We woke up the next day to a family of zebras crossing or rather taking their morning stroll. We took up paintball shooting and uhm! I tapped out just after the first hit bruised my not-so-adventurous skin. I jumped out of the so-called combat jump suit and handed my rifle to one of the crew members who wanted to have a go. I watched these barbaric beasts have a go at each other, the things a rifle can do to a humble man’s behavior.
We shot the paint out of those gassed up guns and soon made our way to the crocodile farm where we were introduced to some of the biggest crocs I have ever seen and I am not making this up, this one giant croc we were poking fun at was actually called “Bheki Cele” he was the biggest of the group, Let it be known we did not name him, that’s his real name. We watched them feed and fight over Nandos chicken, no! It was just dead chicken. But it was exhilarating to be that close to these infamous coldblooded carnivores . We definitely made new friends, we dined with like minded peers and we saw Limpopo from a different light.
