Holly The New Voice Of House Music
Local House music star Holly returns to the airwaves with her brand new single Tambourine, featuring Fiesta Black.
Already having taken the dance music scene by storm with her first two singles Inhliziyo Yami (2013) and Bang Bang (2014), Holly returns with a hot new track, a new record deal and a full-length album waiting in the wings.
Holly teams up with producer Wakes Zondeka as well as fellow House singer Fiesta Black on the fresh tribal-house inspired track Tambourine, already heating up charts across local radio.
Durban based singer songwriter Holly is your not your average 18 year old. She started her music career as a very young teen when she wrote and recorded a song as a gift to a friend. It is during that time that she met and worked with different musicians who wanted to continue to work with her.
Her passion for both music and the Zulu culture has led her to hold a unique space as a white girl in the urban market. “Zulu is a beautiful language for songwriting and I love to sing in Zulu,” says Holly. Drawn in by the rhythmic beats and the soulful sounds, she mixes the Kasi sound with sultry jazz and tribal undertones. Her natural talent and true heart and soul shine through in her music, both as a musician and as a vocalist.
Her first two singles were released through Soul Candi and were received with open arms in the urban market. This pushed her into the spotlight and she started working with some of SA’s best-known Deep House producers.
Her debut album Vanilla House is currently in production and will be released through Content Connect Africa shortly. The album sees her collaborate with well-known producer Mondli Ngcobo as well as other musicians and vocalists.
Holly believes that it’s a vital part of music to share her experiences with other musicians and collaborate as much as possible. She feels it’s important to encourage, support and empower other artists as they do her, and says her greatest teachings have come through the vast variety of collaborations that she’s been involved in.
