Okay, relax! We are not going to talk about AKA & Vth Season but that makes for a great headline, right? In any case, new developments are out in the open. If you haven’t seen any of the billboards, Super Mega x Cruz Vodka dropped about a week ago… Cue Bobby Shmurda.
We received an invite from the Marketing Director of Cruz Vodka, daughter of the founder of Cruz Vodka, Rachel de Mardt. Before many shots and cocktails were downed, we had a young press conference, very chilled type of conversational style conference.
It started with Cruz vodka and AKA their multi-million rand collaboration which is thought to be the largest ever signed by a South African musician with a press conference that was followed by an evening of style and laid back luxury hosted at the 5 star Maslow Hotel last night, In attendance were South Africa’s leading media as well as leading South African actresses, actors, musicians and social influencers that rocked the night away.
“This is a perfect fit as both Cruz vodka and AKA are international,aspirational luxury brands that have foundations in fashion, art, and music – we are excited and privileged to have AKA South Africa’s No 1 musician and the only South African musician to ever be featured on GQ front cover as a partner and are looking forward to exciting future collaborations” said David de Mardt Cruz Vodka Managing Director Africa,The collaboration will be communicated through TV,print outdoor and events
AKA is known for not holding his tongue and speaking his mind, which prompted the question of what would ever happen should he be caught off side by the unrelenting traditional media spin doctors and tabloids. David de Mardt made it clear to all present that “they are a brave client and AKA is a brave artist” and they would proceed to let AKA do what he does best, which is being himself.
This was also the first sponsorship announced by Beam Group (Kiernan Forbes own management Group)
Guests attending this extravagant affair were treated to signature Cruz Vintage Black cocktails that went in, I tell you.
