Cosmo Does Denim
Fashion contrinbutor: Celeste Jacobs
The Cosmo Jeans Fashion Show 2016 took place at Canal Walk last night. The event was sold out & #COSMOJeans trended online in SA on the night. Those are the more technical things that define or appear to determine what makes an event successful. At the core, there are finer details, which impact the perception of success.
Was it a vibe? Yes, definitely! Once I entered the venue I received a welcome drink and also had free reign of their sweet counters. If the night ended there I’d have been happy to be honest! I’m always going to want to chow down on sweets, so to be able to go all-in was such a rad vibe and just helped carry through the theme of the night, which was filled with loads of excitement!
Added to that was the MC, Nomzamo Mbatha. I’m just going to go right ahead and own my fan-girl status. She is as charming and charismatic as you’d imagine her to be, possibly, even more so! She’s no stranger to the catwalk, fashion weeks or the red carpet. This year alone she’s been to NYFW where she attended the FENTY PUMA by Rihanna Fall 2016 show. She also closed Khosi Nkosi’s show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in March. Added to that is her stint in the French Riviera for the Cannes Film Festival. I’ll just mention a few.
Jimmy Nevis also graced the stage with his cool moves and even cooler fashion sense. His outfit was basically all of my life goals summed up in one look. I loved his vibe — it’s really effortless the way he manages to hit all those notes — his range is really impressive.
The models at the event were also so divine. I mean, I literally took notes on how to walk like a bad-bad while watching them. It’s crazy how much power lies in a walk. They owned it and really made the various looks come to life. Cosmo teamed up with Canal Walk, Soviet Denim, Guess, Forever New and Claires (to name a few) to make all the rad looks possible.
So there you have it! It was all kinds of awesome. I think it’s definitely the type of event to enjoy with your besties. It was cool and casual with intensity created through visuals and music (could also have been all the sugar kicking in)!
