There are things in life we all despise…like chores and admin, but they’re absolutely essential and there’s no way around them. For many, work becomes a chore, something that just has to happen in order to make ends meet. You grind hard, do your bit, but on occasion, that isn’t enough and the amount of time you put in doesn’t match up to the amount you get out. You know the drill, you work around the clock, but then your car decides to break down, your house gets burgled, or your younger sister’s varsity expenses are costing a little more than you had originally budgeted for. That means you need a little bit of a cash injection, and let’s be honest winning the lotto jackpot isn’t really realistic. So you take your lunch break and head into the bank to get a loan. It’s not ideal, but it must be done. You get the loan you require and you do what you need to do.
Sounds pretty standard, right? Well it is, until you hear about this campaign. Earlier this year, African Bank ran a campaign in which they made R250 000.00 available to pay back the loans of some of their customers. Say what? That’s right, those twenty customers had no idea that they were even in the running to win back their loan amount, but it happened.
One of those winning stories is really quite special. A gentleman by the name of Mamadise Mamokwale took out a loan to help his grandparents out. He believed he owed them a lot for all the years or love, advice and assistance they’d given him and his family. Mamadise was able to enjoy the party with his family and the community without the burden of having to pay back the loan. Too awesome. Check out the other stories in this video:
This is an amazing campaign – one that helps those in our communities who really need the help. Hopefully African Bank will look to do this again soon. More stories like Mamadise’s will certainly surface if that is the case, and how such makes a difference to their lives is priceless. Big up, African Bank.
