This year we (Book Of Swag) decided to take a plunge into the pool of an array of skilled SMI’s (Social Media Influencers) and bloggers in the African continent, contending for the best or rather most respected, listened-to and read cyber opinions, better known as ‘blogging”.
Entries are open for the 2015 African Blogger Awards. These Awards aim to acknowledge
the top African talent in the world of Bloggers, YouTubers, Facebookers,Tweeters, and
Instagrammers. They provide an opportunity to the most successful online influencers in
Africa to be recognised for their hard work in growing and keeping their communities active
and engaged. The competition has expanded this year to include Facebook pages and
profiles, adding further opportunities for social influencers to be recognised for the quality and
reach of their platform.
The inaugural African Blogger Awards in 2014 set the benchmark for the discovery of truly
exceptional African content creators and their unique story-telling approaches. We are looking
forward to seeing the progress made by entrants participating in this year’s event for the
second time, while discovering new talent across the continent,’ says Mike Sharman, African
Blogger Awards Co-Founder.
The award winners own the status and the bragging rights as among the top bloggers on
the African continent. Having this title opens them up to better relationships with brands, and
ultimately the opportunity to make money from blogging. A local blogger,
JustCurious, won an award as The Best Entertainment African Blog, out of 67 entries in
2014.
Entries for the awards close on 9 April 2015 at midnight. The results will be announced on 5
May 2015 via the African Blogger Twitter handle, @African_Blogger, from 11h00.
