Neo – Soul Night Picnic with Omar and friends
Neo-soul is a musical genre that fuses contemporary R&B and 1970s-style soul with elements of hip-hop. The actual term is believed to have originated with Kedar Massenburg of Motown Records in the late-1990s.
Omar Christopher Lye-Fook MBE (born 14 October 1968, London) known professionally as Omar, is a British soul singer, songwriter and musician. He learnt his craft classically playing the trumpet, piano and drums, making it into the county’s youth orchestra as principle percussionist, followed by two years at Music College in Manchester. His most well-known song was his debut single “There’s Nothing Like This”.
Join us for a Neo soul night picnic under the beautiful Jozi starlit sky, as we welcome Omar and friends for an iconic musical performance set to be a sensational production not to be missed!

Music lovers can also indulge in the sounds of some of South Africa’s renowned local artists which include; MXO and the peppercorns, Khethi and her AfroTwist, Nomisupasta, Vusi Nova, Kabomo, Wanda Baloyi, hosted by Lebo Mashile to also add her poetic feel to what promises to be a soulful experience.
This performance is set to be an amazing combination of Soul meets… Omar who has had the privilege of working alongside some of the world’s best musicians and leading voices of R&B and hip-hop: Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Common and Stevie Wonder.
