ASUS charges through rAge
Taiwanese technology brand makes a splash at South Africa’s premier gaming and technology expo
ASUS, the Taiwanese technology innovation brand, made a big and bold statement at the 2014 rAge Expo, held at the Coca-Cola Dome from 10-12 October 2014, with an exceptionally inviting stand, exciting events, cosplayers, performances by DJ Muzi, as well as a sponsorship of the 2014 Dota2 Telkom Do Gaming Champions competition held at the show.
“rAge is always a wonderful way for us to get in touch with our gaming community, and we created a remarkable, memorable and engaging experience for visitors to the expo,” says Jeff Kuo, ASUS country manager. “Our participation in the 2014 event was our biggest ever, with giveaways, on-stand experiences, and a R50 000 contribution to the prizes won in the DGL Dota2 gaming championship.”
The marketing team, led by Sifiso Nhlapo, Lawrence Lin and Miles Regenass, created a bright and open stand that would welcome expo visitors while showcasing the ASUS hardware on display, which included the ASUS G751 notebook, the ASUS G20 and GR8 gaming desktop and the ASUS 4K monitor, the ASUS GX500 gaming notebook, the Strix Tactic keyboard, the Strix DSP gaming headset, the X99 deluxe motherboard, and the Strix GTX 970 graphics card.
“These products are all part of our Republic of Gamers (ROG) sub-brand – a high performance niche of hardware that not only offers exceptional performance, they do it with design appeal,” says Kuo. “Their slick design with the ASUS brushed steel trademark swirl finish make them objects of beauty too, boosting their appeal to gamers across the spectrum.”
Visitors to the ASUS stand at rAge were able to test-drive the devices by playing Heartstone, which was provided by Megarom, South Africa’s leading interactive game importer and distributor.
“Our stand offered multiple touch points for visitors, from the devices to the cosplayers, as well as engagements with the representatives from ASUS and Megarom,” says Kuo. “We’re confident that ASUS has entrenched the brand as one of first choice for gamers and others interested in high performance technology and we’re looking forward to building on this base in the future.”
