Trio of top UK bands confirmed for family lifestyle event

Three British music acts – jazz-funk pioneers the Brand New Heavies, club favourites Soul II Soul and acid jazz outfit Incognito – will headline this year’s DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival, taking place at Emmarentia Dam on 31 May.

Last year’s inaugural Delicious festival was such a success that this family lifestyle event is back with a delectable bang in 2014.

The DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival, presented in association with Castle Milk Stout, Whirlpool, Mitsubishi Motors and Kaya FM, will again lay on a lavish feast of entertainment and culinary fare, this time in the picturesque setting of the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens.

A blistering line-up of local and international music acts, further details of which will be announced soon, will provide the aural backdrop for a lazy, languid Saturday afternoon of family and foodie-friendly fun and good vibes.

In addition to shopping for gourmet goodies at the artisan food market, visitors can dine in style at one of the pop-up restaurants manned by South African and overseas celebrity chefs, who will be whipping up their signature dishes on site.

When they aren’t busy having a ball in the park-like surrounds of Emmarentia, children will be kept entertained in the kids’ area hosted by DStv, which will include attractions featuring Nickelodeon and Boomerang characters.

And for those who wish to treat themselves to a more exclusive festival experience, the VIP area will play host to a premium bar and a viewing deck over the main stage.

This chilled-out open-air festival attracted some 20 000 visitors to its inaugural event last October, with the combination of scrumptious food and superb music proving a sure-fire winner with the crowds.

The 2014 DStv Delicious Festival promises an even broader kaleidoscope of flavours and experiences, catering for dyed-in-the-wool gastronomes, ordinary food fanatics and those who enjoy savouring A-grade live music.

VWV Massive is once again producing and promoting this high-end lifestyle festival. “The VWV group have been responsible for some of the biggest events in SA, most notably the FIFA 2010 World Cup opening ceremony, so you can rest assured that the price you pay to attend this world-class event will be worth every cent,” says Lloyd Cornwall, Director of VWV Massive.

General admission for the DStv Delicious Festival is R450, but a limited number of early-bird tickets are available from Computicket at R350 (R100 for under-12s; free entrance for children under three). Visit www.computicket.com or phone 0861 915 8000 to book.

A restricted number of VIP tickets are available at R850 apiece.
