Tumelo Rakumako a.k.a Big Star and I, have a few things in common, we were both influenced and shaped by our English teachers to a certain extent. Our undying love for words and for Hip Hop is unfathomable. To borrow from one particular Canadian rapper: “We started from the bottom and now we are here”. So you can imagine how excited I was when Vth Season called to find out if I had a few questions to ask him about his upcoming trip to Cannes, France. This is what he had to say:

KB: First and foremost congratulations on everything that you have become, everything that you are becoming. Tell us more about your trip to Cannes in France.

BIG STAR: It’s happening from the 3rd of June, it’s an international gathering which serves as a platform to connect and network with different music industry people from all over the world.

KB: On a scale of 1 – 10, how excited are you about this trip and what are you looking forward to the most?

BIG STAR: 7/10… if I get to perform there then it’s a definite 10/10

KB: A little bird told us there is an opportunity for you to perform on the main stage but you need your fans a fellow South Africans to help. How does that work?

BIG STAR: Simple, you have to go to the Midem Facebook page and just like BIGSTAR’s picture. I’m guessing those with the most likes get the shot to perform.

KB: When you do get on that stage, what’s the first song you are going to perform?

BIG STAR: Just to flex 💪🏾

KB: Any possible collaboration with French rappers e.g MC Solaar, IAM, Assassin? Would you be interested in that?

BIG STAR: Hell yea.  I managed to meet the talented Youssapha earlier in Jozi, so I’m hoping to catch him in his backyard and get some work done.

Now…go do the right thing, vote for your boy Big Star, there is no denying that he deserves this. Let’s get him on that main stage.
