Coke Studios Africa
Top South African singer, Busiswa, of the hit records “Lahla”, “Ngoku” and DJ Zinhle’s “My Name Is” returns to Coke Studio Africa in 2017 to collaborate with Zambian artist, Slapdee.
This year Coke Studio Africa and Coke Studio South Africa have come together into one bigger and better Coke Studio Africa 2017.
While speaking exclusively at the show’s ‘Behind the Music’ Studios in Nairobi during the recording, Busiswa said “Coke Studio is a lot of hard work but certainly one of the most interesting things I’ve ever done. It’s exciting! Every day is different. You meet new people and get a new challenge. I am trying to find my creative flow in the midst of all that, making me feel like I am growing as an artist just for being part of it.”
Busiswa and Slapdee’s track will be produced by Ghanaian music producer Killbeatz. She revealed a little about what we should expect “Even though our collabo is between South Africa, Zambia and Ghana – the rhymes, beats and flow are similar. We found an amazing electric flow in the studio, mixing our language and cultures,” adding, “While Killbeatz has a western influence, he’s got a West African touch … and we were able to connect with that.”
Busiswa’s collaborator, Slapdee, also talked about the show “Coke Studio is closing the gap in African music by allowing artists to make good music.”
Coke Studio Africa 2017 promises to be a melting pot of musical talent, bringing together renowned music producers and top-notch artists drawn from various parts of the continent. The merger increases the number of participating countries to 16, up from 11 in the previous edition.
