Following the reveal of BETR Gang’s video release – – Friday 12 August 2016 promises to be an exciting day for South Africa as we experience more of the true magic that happens when The Jameson INDIE Channel collaborates with local artists. “The Boogieman”, Desmond and the Tutu’s recent single and video to be released, matches the authentic, fearless characteristics embodied in the Jameson brand which makes this partnership the perfect collaboration.

In December 2015 the Jameson INDIE Channel called for the most fearless creatives and directors in South Africa to submit their music video proposals and the most inspired concept would be the lucky winner of R100 000 to put towards making their dreams come true. The Jameson INDIE Channel Music Grant were then faced with the incredibly exciting challenge of selecting only one finalist out of the 150, astounding submissions they received. Nicole Van Zyl, Assistant Brand Manager at Jameson, said “it was an incredibly inspiring experience to go through the submissions and we were overwhelmed by the amount of diverse talent South Africa has, we decided that we couldn’t just choose one winner and made the decision to produce two fearless music videos instead”. Over the past 8 months, the Jameson INDIE Channel have been posting ‘behind-the-scenes’ snippets and clips in anticipation for the release of the two winning videos – BETR Gang’s “The Heist” (which is available already on and Desmond and the Tutu’s “Boogieman”.

Desmond and the Tutu’s lead singer, Shane Durrant, approached the Jameson INDIE Channel with the exquisite idea of an “explosion of spooky African textures and feelings; a visual trip into the depths of the deep, freaky Joburg netherworld”. Director Greg Rom, from Gentleman Films alongside costume designer, Joel Janse van Vuuren, and art director, Adi Koebrings helped to successfully bring Shane’s dream to life. This fascinating and surreal fantasy-come-true is completely infectious. The Jameson INDIE Music Channel have once again proved that the sky is the limit with this music video collaboration and we can’t wait to feel the contagious goosebumps that this video is guaranteed to give.
