On the other side of the interview.

It must have been a random Tuesday when we unexpectedly received a call from Tsholo Semenya, content producer of ‘Tonight With Tim Modise’ an one-hour long talk show airing on the Soweto TV channel, that seeks to explore relevant, current topics that South Africans are talking about. We are well vested in the history of media mavericks and groundbreakers of this country and “Bra Tim” (I think I can call him that now), is nothing short of an iconic-legendary broadcaster. Not from the skillful and poised delivery he embodies but also how he listens when you, the interviewee speak. The balance of listening when you’re paid to speak appears as stroke of genius “these days”.

The experienced broadcaster has received numourous accolades, including SABC’s Best Broadcaster in Radio and MTN Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award. Bra Tim has worked as columnist, analyst and leader of public campaigns, such as Proudly South African.

Our invitation was centred around the popular and topical annual #youthmonth. We at BOS have set out to build an alternative voice for the youth and youth culture in our city, let alone country. You can imagine our surprise when we received the email confirming we were the 2nd biggest youth culture and entertainment blog on the continent. Having entered months before that.

So when the opportunity to speak on Youth Culture on national television we didn’t think twi(i)ce,LOL. We’ve now built careers through social commentary and demystifying the not so glamorous parts our city and country by sharing content and stories that matter to the youth.

We have since become a full on start-up creative agency in content marketing and social media. The curiosity of being willing contributors of what the city deems as youth culture has lead us to work with all sorts of premium youth and non-youth focused brands.
Our company started a collaboration of ideas and opinions. Which has helped us mould our manifesto and at the heart of it is collaboration.
