So, without warning, our friends at KFC South Africa hit us up in the morning of the 27th November, 15 on some: Do you guys want to tag along with the winners of the KFC VIP EXPERIENCE, alongside the hottest up and coming rapper and winner of Vuzu Hustle?
This already seemed like it was a winners’ union and we being the winners we are in our own right, found it only sound to accept the invitation.

Now, Maftown heights is a stylish event and KFC had to ensure that we arrived in style and so they pulled all the stops when they brought out the meanest looking stretch Hummer H3 on the road to shuttle us to the event. This thing turned heads from the minute we hit the road, rolling like the VIPs KFC made sure we were.

Part of the itinerary was a …wait for it…VIP shopping experience at Shesha. You always read about international superstars shutting the mall down and stores being cleared to cater exclusively for the biggest celebrity in town, well in the richest square mile in Africa, Sandton city, KFC again, pulled another rabbit out of the hat, when they cleared the store to only attend exclusively to the winners aforementioned.

Let’s just say retail therapy was the order of the hour and R2000 in vouchers were handed out by a nice lady from KFC which got people (winners and social media influencers,us) grabbing and dropping items in utter confusion but eventually life changing decisions were made, the swag was upped and the VIPs were readier now than ever before to hit the show.

We at Book Of Swag, are blessed to be able to gain access to some very exclusive and high end events in the country’s calender but let me just say to know what AKA , Khuli Chana and well any top line performer feels like when they are in a major event, would require to walk in the shoes of the artist.

KFC did us one better, when the limo rolled into the event, through the back, literally 20 meters from the stage, security on standby and an usher leading us to our designated VIP area, with waiting service on hand and a uhmm hmm… private bar. We knew we were rolling 7 star, it almost felt like we’d be the ones entertaining the scores filling the square in anticipation of the show ahead.

BIGSTA SET FOR BIGGER THINGS

One the coolest moments about this whole experience was catching up with the young rapper, Bigsta. A really chilled homie, with an amazing spirit and character. He had the guests entertained in the limo from the pick up point to the event. He’s moment is now and damn did the boy fill those boots, thanks to Vuzu hustle he is no stranger to the masses and they gave him the warmest cheers when he hit the stage.

Let’s just say he owned his moment, but definitely killed it when he brought a drum line band to give his set that extra dose of live entertainment.

THE MAIN EVENT

Maftown Heights certainly goes down in the books as one of the events to attend in the calendar. To think that in the beginning it was relatively a “Motswako thing” attracting just under a thousand Mahikeng natives based in Jozi to what seemed like, just under 10 thousand in this year’s installment.

Because the lineup in so intense and incredibly competitive, every rapper brought their A- game. Fifi Cooper, Zakwe, WTF, JR, Tuks, Mo Molemi, Towdee Mac, BenchMarq, HHP, Bigsta, Khuli Chana, AKA and Gigi Lamayne performed their hearts out to fans delight

Absolut-ly

If you weren’t there in person, go check out the thread on twitter, the hash tag went like so #MaftownHeights15. Big up to Absolut Vodka, Miller and Redbull for keeping us replenished at all times but an even bigger shout out to KFC for showing us they care, the gig was without a doubt “spiced up”.
