Here is a compelling tribute to Nkuli “Flabba” Habedi by another one of his peers and colleagues. HHP approached us, pacing with much emotion, driven by a purpose he could no longer contain and this purpose above everything was ubuntu, “being neighbourly” is what he referred to it as, to be precise and factual.
We were all still pretty much shocked by the loss everyone in the industry was still coming to terms with, we gathered in one of our boardrooms and basically spoke about the reaction of a community when there is loss of life in a household.
“What are we meant to do?” is the feeling we were all confronted by. But because Jabba is an artist he had a song already recorded for his comrade, a song celebrating him the best way he remembered him. We could only offer our platform and time to help get the message of this track out, a way we would like to pay our last respects to Flabba.
The song”Flabba Rea Lela” loosely translates to “Flabba we are mourning”.
The hook of the song spells out how HHP felt about the tragic incident: “We are with you in our minds, from the beginning to the end. We fall with you,we stand with you. Flabba we are mourning”.
