Q&A with Hello Beautiful #Halloween2014

We had a few questions for Hello Beautiful ahead of his performance this weekend
read the Q&A below and let us know what you think via our social media channels

BOS: Most importantly who is Hello Beautiful and why Hello Beautiful?

HB: Hello Beautiful is one person, me. I started this project a couple of years back, but i only started releasing music not to long ago, the name Hello Beautiful just stuck with me, iv’e always wanted to do a project of my own, and this is it, it’s amazing for me to see how it’s growing and in what direction it’s going.

BOS: What inspired you to decide to make music and what inspires your sound ?

HB: I’ve always wanted to be a musician, my older brother plays a big part in why I’m involved in music, he gave me my first ever guitar and always encouraged me to play music, let alone that, he’s always introducing me to new music and sharing his thoughts on it with me. Well, i guess the way I’m feeling at the time and the people I’m surrounded with, it could also be a visual thing, like the first track off my new self-titled album which is coming out very soon, i was on my way to Joburg, in the plane, i looked out the window as we were taking off, and this idea just came to mind, it looked so epic out that window, almost like flying into space, so i whipped out my laptop and headphones and got straight to it.

BOS: What is your creative process pre-production of course?

HB: I have a little home studio, it really depends, sometimes I’ll write a song on a bass guitar, or an electric guitar, but then turn it into an electronic song and rewrite it on a keyboard, sometimes a whole song just pops out in 1/2 hours, finish and done, unmixed of course, it all really depends. I tend to go in these dips where i write a lot of songs in a short time span.

BOS: Being a bass player for Deep Space Champion Pop band Kidofdoom and Psychedelic Afro Disco Surf Punk band Beach Party how do you find a balance for you as a solo act?

HB: I guess there’s always a way. Kidofdoom doesn’t play very often so it kind of balances out well with Beach Party and Hello Beautiful, I’ve recently joined a garage/punk band called Black Lung, i play drums for them, it’s my first time playing drums for a band so I’m having loads of fun.

BOS: So what differentiates Hello Beautiful from Matthieu Auriacombe the bass player for Deep Space Champion Pop band Kidofdoom and Psychedelic Afro Disco Surf Punk band Beach Party?

HB: hmm..well, it’s electronic music, and i play Synth throughout the whole show, I’ve recently added a sample pad to my live show, it’s load of fun.

BOS: What’s your ideal crowd?

HB: A packed out venue full of drunken people ready to have a proper dance and willing to drink whatever shots i give them.

BOS: What would you say is the perfect gig?

HB: Hmmm..i would say a packed out Untamed Youth show, those are the best, there’s just something special in the air. Also, i played my very first show at Untamed Youth, so it will always be a special place for me.

BOS: How do you feel about getting booked for an awesome gig such as Halloween?
HB: I am absolutely honored, I couldn’t be happier, and it’s in Pretoria, things get very messy when i play in Pretoria, it’s always a PARTY!!!

BOS: Are fans to expect some new material from you during your set at Halloween 2014?

HB: Yes, I’m bring a new set, with some new tracks, a new live set up (adding the sample pad)
