Funny or Die, presenters of some of the festival’s most memorable lineups, are returning to Austin to host a truly amazing event: An Evening with Bill Cosby, and an official afterparty featuring music from Chromeo.
The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater will also be back with performers from their New York and Los Angeles stages. In addition to the previously announced ASSSSCAT — hosted by UCB co-founder Matt Besser, with monologues from Arrested Development’s Jeffrey Tambor — look forward to a fully improvised show from trio Doppelganger: Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live), Nicole Byer (Girl Code), and Keisha Zollar (Broad City). Plus, storytelling show Blackout Drunk with Jon Gabrus (MTV) and guest bartender Adam Pally (The Mindy Project).
Above Average, the digital network launched by Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video, spotlights projects from TV’s brightest minds and future stars, and their SXSW Comedy debut has both: Up Next featuring Fred Armisen, hosted by SNL writer Tim Robinson.

will feature special performances from some of the show’s newest stars, including standup from Sasheer Zamata, and sketch team Good Neighbor: Beck Bennett, David McCary, Kyle Mooney, and Nick Rutherford, who have been performing together since 2007.
SXSW is proud to present several showcases that are changing their local comedy landscapes. Denver trio The Grawlix — comics Adam Cayton-Holland, Andrew Orvedahl, and Ben Roy — have built a community around their acclaimed monthly show, helping turn their hometown into one of the country’s most exciting scenes. And in the back of a Los Angeles comic book shop, The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail attracts hundreds of comedy lovers each week with a show that’s landed them on best- of lists and, soon, their own Comedy Central series. Brooklyn-based Pretty Good Friends, hosted by comedian Eugene Mirman (Bob’s Burgers, Delocated) has become a beloved NYC staple, a variety show that blends calculated hilarity with utter chaos.
Since The Chris Gethard Show made its first SXSW appearance, the public access hit (proudly billed as “the most bizarre and often saddest talk show in New York City”) has attracted a devoted global fanbase. Their completely unpredictable live show is guaranteed to be one of the wildest nights of the festival.
What’s Your Fucking Deal also promises an unforgettable evening, with comics ditching their material to go off the cuff for — and about — the audience. And all the rules are out the door in Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura, where a character-driven panel of investigative experts, led by James Adomian, unravels the world’s mysteries.
Making their first trip outside state lines, Comedy Living Room will take over a downtown home to bring LA’s coziest show to Texas. Plus, standup with a live soundtrack from Loud Village, late night debauchery at Midnight Run with Andy Haynes, and a trip across the dial with The Imaginary Radio Program with Drennon Davis, where songs and sketches loop together for a completely unique “radio” show.
The SXSW Comedy schedule includes chart topping podcasts — Comedy Bang! Bang!, Girl On Guy, improv4humans, Smartest Man in the World, The Todd Barry Podcast, and You Made It Weird — recording live episodes with special guests; plus, previously announced panels (Inside Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jeffrey Tambor’s Acting Workshop, The Pete Holmes Show Makes it Weird, and Portlandia: Behind the Scenes with the Creators), shows (The Doug Benson Movie Interruption, The Green Room, and Set List) and presenters (The Creek and The Cave, The Laugh Button Live, Comedy Gives Back, Rooftop Comedy and Gotham Comedy Club).

When the shows are over, head to official SXSW Comedy afterparties hosted by Above Average and Funny or Die — and don’t miss the festival’s opening party, presented by NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers.
