Q&A with Das Kapital #ULTRAFESTSA

Bongani got to ask Das Kapital a few questions around his anticipated set at the Ultra Music Festival SA

Bongani: So tell me Das, what was the first thing that came to mind when you found out the Ultra Music Festival was coming to our shores?

Das Kapital: My first thought was “finally”.

The South African dance scene is ready for the world to take notice of it; now more than ever before. With new and noteworthy talent emerging all across the country, it’s the perfect time for the spotlight to fall on South Africa.

Bongani:What was your reaction to finding out that you are playing at the UltraSA gig?

Das Kapital: See above ☺

Jokes aside, it was genuinely an exciting moment; one that validates the time and effort I put into my productions and DJ sets. I’m thankful that my work has got me this far, and I’m excited to showcase it to the best of my ability, in the setting it was made for.

Bongani:How are you feeling about the line up and what are we to expect from
your set?

Das Kapital: I’m really impressed with the diversity over the 3 stages at both events, but my ears are going to be turned towards the producer / DJs in particular. The artists on the lineup (both local and international) command my absolute respect, and I’m glad I’m considered as an equal.

My set is going to contain a lot of my new music – remixes, originals, VIPs, etc – showcasing the direction I’m heading at the moment. People can expect a lot of exclusive tracks, IDs and edits from my producer friends around the world, and a whole boatload of exciting new material from me and the artists on my record label, Do Work Records.

Bongani: Whose set are you looking forward to from the international and local
acts?

Das Kapital: Internationally, potentially all of them?!

I’m especially looking to meeting Nicky Romero, as my weekly radio show on Assembly Radio is the official South African home of his Protocol podcast.

Locally it’s Pascal and Pearce, Grimehouse, Goldfish, Fresh, and as many great producers as I can find.

I’m going to be running between the stages a lot, it seems.

Bongani:On a scale of zero to Ultra amped how excited are you?

Das Kapital: I am really excited to playing my music to real dance music supporters. I’d say that put me at just about an “ULTRA” on your scale. ☺

Thanks for your time guys.
